Overview

Chat is where you and your Eigi work together. You type (or dictate) what you need, and Eigi responds — thinking out loud, using its tools, and showing its work as it goes. Every conversation is a session you can return to later.

Talking to Eigi

Just write naturally. You can ask questions, hand over tasks, paste content, or attach files. Eigi decides which tools it needs — web search, browser, files, connected apps — and uses them on its own.

See its thinking

Eigi shows a live status of what it’s reasoning about and which tools it’s using, so you’re never staring at a blank spinner.

Stop anytime

A stop button lets you interrupt a running task. Eigi stops cleanly and you can redirect it.

Voice input

Use the mic button to dictate messages instead of typing.

Pick your model

Choose which AI model powers the conversation from the model picker — switch anytime, mid-session.

Slash commands

Type / in the composer to see quick commands — like starting a fresh context, checking context usage, or switching models — without leaving the chat.

Referencing workspace files

Type @ to mention any file or folder from Eigi’s workspace directly in your message. Eigi gets the exact file you mean — no need to describe paths.

Watching Eigi Work

Eigi doesn’t just tell you what it did — it shows you.
When Eigi browses the web, a live view of its browser appears right in the chat. You watch pages load and actions happen in real time.
When Eigi creates or edits files, the chat shows exactly what changed, and you can open the file from there.
A tabbed dock gives you Eigi’s files, terminal, and browser side by side with the chat — browse folders, preview documents and images, and follow background tasks.
For sensitive actions, Eigi pauses and asks for your approval first. You approve or deny right in the chat, and your permission settings control how often it needs to ask.
Some actions need private input — like a password for a login Eigi is helping you with. Eigi requests these through a secure input card, so secrets never sit in the chat as plain text.

Sessions

Every conversation is a session with its own history.
  • Auto-titles — sessions name themselves from what you talked about, so the list stays easy to scan.
  • Pick up where you left off — reopen any session and continue; Eigi still has the full context.
  • Context usage — a small pill shows how full the current session’s context is. When a session gets long, Eigi compacts it automatically and keeps going.
  • Recent sessions — your latest sessions live in the sidebar; the full list is one click away.
Start a new session for a new topic. Eigi’s long-term memory carries the important things across sessions, so you lose nothing by starting fresh.
